Upload a Video My Morning Show: Muslim Unity Day Part-1

Muslim Unity Day is a 6 year old tradition started by some young Muslims of Bay Area to get together at Great America park and enjoy the rides, music, entertainment, halal food and each other's company without worrying about moon sighting type divisive issues. This year WBT-TV My Morning Show team was there to cover the event. Here are the first part of the highlights from the event.

My Morning Show: PACC-ICC-AMUAA South Asian Eid Celebration

Afsheen Afzal goes to India Community Center (ICC) where South Asians celebrated Eid together. Pakistani American Culture Center (PACC) and Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association (AMUAA) collaborated with ICC to bring the Pakistani and Indian communities together to celebrate Eid together. Besides the children's fashion show and dances, the main performance by Iqbal Qasim singing classical Ghazals and Film songs was appreciated by all in attendance. Wide Angle Zoom: Perspective on Pakistan Independence from one eyewitness

Faraz Syed talks to Dr. Waheed Siddiqee who was a young teenager during the 1947 independence of Pakistan. He asks Dr. Siddiqee about the feelings of Muslims of Hyderabad Dekkan in particular and Muslims of India in general prior to and at the time of independence. Dr. Siddiqee talks about how Hyderabad state also declared independence from India in 1947 and how he felt at that time. Later the Indian state reclaimed the state back in.

Faraz Syed talks to Farrukh Shah Khan, Bay Area Pakistani and Muslim community leader who experienced mental trauma and guilt by association, after watching events of September 11, 2001 on TV along with media's and US Government officials' blanket statements putting suspicion on all American-Muslims. Afterwards, Faraz talked with Journalist Ali Hasan Cemendtaur, analyzing the facts surrounding the events of September 11, 10 years ago. 9-11 Commission report was discussed along with media reports of that world historic event.

Wide Angle Zoom: Can Muslims in America relate to what Ahmadiya community is going through in Pakistan?

Muslims in America are vilified, persecuted and hated by Americans. Many incidents of hate crimes are reported against Muslim minirities. From verbal assaults to demonstrations against building the mosques to secret wire-tracking of ordinary Muslim-Americans is common.

In this show we look at the vilification of Ahmadiya Muslim Community in Pakistan. We look at the incident of Punjab police breaking scriptural writings on the walls of their mosques in Pakistan. How Ahmadis in Pakistan are not allowed to practice their faith openly without breaking the law.

The question is: Can Muslim-Americans relate to the plight of Ahmadiya Muslims in Pakistan?
